JILLY JAMJAR’S TEN LITTLE REMINDERS
FOR A HAPPY PARTY

    1.

If you’re booking a party try to book your venue and entertainer as soon as possible.  They both get very busy! Jilly’s party slots at weekends tend to be approximately 11-1pm (with lunch served at midday) and 3-5pm (with tea served at 4pm.)
THERE IS FLEXIBILITY ON PARTY TIMES

    2.

Don’t feel obliged to spend heaps on decorating your party room.

    3.

No need to spend a fortune on fancy food either.

    4.

Keep it simple.  It’s easier for you! Young ones don’t tend to recall the décor and food as much as the fun they have watching Jilly being silly.

    5.

Jilly can provide amazing balloon models for the children to take home (See ‘A Jilly JamJar Party’ for details of Party Extras.) However.… if you choose to display your own balloons at the party as well, hang them in a prominent spot in one bunch sufficiently out of reach of the children.  This will prevent young party guests from jumping to try and catch the strings!  (If they are scattered around the room they fascinate the children and interrupt the party)

    6.

Remove ALL toys and climbing equipment and other curiosities from the party room.  It is also preferable for an entertainer if no party hats or blowers are in the room. No matter how much fun a party is children will always be distracted by the above.  Plus, blowers are noisy and party hats break – both things that can interrupt a show!

    7.

Hold the party in a room with a solid floor.  If at home, in order to prevent breakages, remove precious belongings that might jiggle about or get knocked over as the children dance and have fun.

    8.

Have lots of napkins to hand so you can wrap the birthday cake for the children to take home.  If you’re holding a large party, the entertainment time is cut if tea takes more than half an hour so Jilly always organises the singing of Happy Birthday and blowing out of candles right at the end of tea, then takes the children off your hands straight away so you can tidy up and cut the cake for them to take home while she continues entertaining.

    9.

Ensure that there is as much space as possible for Jilly to put on the show and run the party games.  A good space for Jilly, her props and stage is 10 ft sq. She works at the level of the children and does not need a raised stage. The children can be crammed into a surprisingly small space on the remaining floor!  If you are holding your party in a hall OR at home the only key thing to remember is to put Jilly’s stage reasonably near a socket (for her electrical equipment) and in a place where the children don’t need to run through her stage space to get to the toilets/eating area or garden - this can cause havoc, with props going missing in curious hands!

    10.

To allow for space and also avoid accidents involving the children, please try to use a room without too much furniture (especially items with sharp corners.)

Testimonials

Thank you ever so much for making Verity's birthday party so memorable .. we all enjoyed your entertainment, adults and children alike! It just proved my theory that a) entertainment is a must at a children's party and b) more importantly "great" entertainment makes it!!! I keep being told that you were the best entertainer seen at a children's party in a long time.
Chantelle Watson, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE

Thank you for a lovely party Jilly.  We got exactly what was promised - an excellent stress-free party which thoroughly entertained the children, whilst all we had to do was to serve the tea. It was much appreciated.
Louise Mellors, SURBITON

It was clearly obvious that the kids could have carried on partying for several hours! It was captivating and full of variety that was enjoyed by all. Thank you very much for performing at a date and time that was convenient for us. Your professionalism, flexibility and customer responsiveness to our needs was appreciated.
